Room installation
200 books of biology, blackened with bitumen,

glued and made unrecognizable
2023

The room-sized installation "small environmental library" consists of almost 200 books from various areas of biology, which have been blackened, glued and made unrecognisable with bitumen-based underbody protection from the automotive sector. Only the small environmental library's own system reveals the content of the books. Divided into the areas of zoology, botany, biotopes and landscapes, biology and fungi, the books express the powerlessness over the loss of biodiversity and natural landscapes. Inspired by the work "Volkszählung (Census)" by Anselm Kiefer from 1991, the small Umweltbibliotek is also intended to symbolise the failure of a society.
