The swallow nest production line for Potsdam provides all the necessary materials and tools for visitors to the exhibition to produce swallow nests with little effort. From mixing the wood concrete to shaping the nests by hand - it is possible to produce three nests within a quarter of an hour. The person who goes through this process can take away an already finished nest - a value-added process is set in motion, which brings the participation demanded by Bayer into the exhibition space. Swallows awaken in us a longing for the rural idyll; they are messengers of happiness and sympathy and bear witness to a lush insect population, moist meadows and small-scale landscape production sites. Monocultures, glyphosate and industrial agriculture, however, leave swallows increasingly threatened.
